L'art du portrait est ce qu'il y a de plus difficile pour le professionnel du dessin et de la peinture. Il exige une maîtrise totale du dessin du visage et de la tête, mais, avant tout, sa réussite est conditionnée à la ressemblance avec le modèle, ce qui suppose de rendre non seulement les traits physiques du sujet mais de saisir aussi son caractère ; il s'agit de "pénétrer dans l'esprit du modèle" comme le conseillait Ingrès à ses élèves... The art of the portrait is one of the most difficult field which the professional artist has to deal with. It requires a great skill of the face and the head lines drawing. But, above of all, the success is linked to its likeness to the model.
